Transcription, Research, Editing and Formatting

Your recordings are transcribed in 4 steps:

1. Transcription: The recordings are first typed verbatim i.e. word-for-word.
2. Research: A proofreader then conducts online research to check the spellings of all medical procedures, medicines, conditions etc.
3. Editing: Next the transcripts are lightly edited to make the text easily readable. This includes removing all the fillers (the ums, ahs, you knows), false starts (incomplete sentences) and grammatical errors; sentences may be paraphrased where needed, for clarity.
4. Formatting: Finally the transcripts are formatted to give them a professional look. Speaker names are marked in bold, names of websites and books are italicized, paragraphs are shortened to 3-4 lines, headers and footers are added.

For an hour-long recording, the entire process takes about 9-10 hours.
