Styles

There are two main styles of transcription we offer (you can ask for a customized one as well)

Verbatim

Verbatim transcripts are created by typing out every word and sound on a recording – including non-verbal communication such as laughter, pauses, etc. This style is ideal for research and analysis (including academic transcription) because it captures not just the words used but also how they were used and under what circumstances.

If you’re simply looking for the main ideas on a recording, Verbatim transcripts may be a little cumbersome to read.

Clean Read

Clean Read transcripts make for easier reading. They are typed verbatim (every word) but are lightly edited to remove irrelevant content such as fillers (ums, ahs, you knows, etc.) and false starts. This style of transcription is also known as ‘Intelligent Verbatim’.

Clean read or Intelligent Verbatim style of transcription is best suited of Coaches, Speakers, Real Estate Associates, Financial Advisors, and other who need to know the WHAT more than the HOW of what’s spoken by the participants in a recording.
