Service description

Research transcription services include:

• Verbatim or Clean Read Transcription
• Two-three rounds of proofing
• Online research for names and technical terms
• Speaker identification
• Detailed editing (if required)
• Detailed formatting
• Free secure online storage space for the duration of the project

Verbatim Transcription: Verbatim transcription involves typing out every word and sound on the recording along with non-verbal communication such as laughter, pauses, etc.

Clean Read Transcription: Clean Read transcription involves typing verbatim but leaving out any external sounds and non-verbal communication. While typing the text is lightly edited to remove irrelevant content such as fillers (ums, ahs, you knows, etc.) and false starts (incomplete sentences).

Detailed Editing: Editing text for repetitive statements, incomplete sentences, speech habits, slangs, contractions (wanna, gonna, etc.), grammatical errors, sentence structure and punctuation errors, side conversations, and other specific editing as per project requirements.

Detailed Formatting: Paragraphing, headings, customized margins, italicizing words said with emphasis, using special brackets {} or [] to indicate particular events during a recording, adding page breaks and page numbers, adding header and footer text, labeling transcripts and other formatting as per project requirements.

Rates

Our regular charges for research transcription are $45.00 per audio hour + a 2.5% PayPal transaction fee.

Discounts for Students

For students we offer a discounted rate of $35.00 per hour of recording (proof of student-status will be required).

You can also avail an addition 5% discount by referring your friends and fellow students to us.

Additional Charges

Audio/Video recordings with the following attributes take longer to transcribe and may attract an additional cost of up to $5.00 per hour of recording -

• Background noise
• Heavy accents
• Low volume
• Multiple speakers speaking simultaneously
• Or excessive technical
